Vein Therapies

Vein therapy is used to remove enlarged veins that have problems with their valves.

Varicose veins usually occur in the legs. Normally, valves in your veins keep blood flowing. But the valves in varicose veins are either damaged or missing. This causes the veins to remain filled with blood, especially when you are standing.

Sclerotherapy involves small injections of a sclerosing agent into the unwanted veins over a few sessions.  Spider veins are superficial and are not essential to your circulatory system which is why this procedure is safe to perform. Over the next few days, you will notice gradual improvement in the treated areas as the injected veins fade away.

Laser treatments are used to treat smaller spider veins, especially on the face and the upper body. Red spider veins, also called telangiectasias, respond well to laser treatment on the face.

Rosacea/Diffuse Redness/Facial Veins - The rosy cheeks which grace many New Englanders is often the first sign of a chronic skin condition known as rosacea which can expand to increase acne and tissue swelling.  Lasers have been used on rosacea successfully for the past several years. Typically 4-6 treatments greatly reduce the appearance of this red flushing over the nose, cheeks, and forehead.  Left untreated, this flushing will break small superficial capillaries which become visible as small red veins on the face.  Luckily these small spider veins can also be treated with our laser.  In fact, typically our treatments combine the two therapies to create the best results possible.
